Juan Pablo is leading our operations in Brazil by overseeing and managing Surveyors of Rio de Janeiro office and often providing his support to our Panama office operations, allocating surveying work and managing the service delivery to all clients in Brazil. He also accumulated a significant experience in a wide range of casualty surveying for major H&M Underwriters and P&I Clubs, including major main engine damages, fire damages, engine room flooding, groundings and wreck removal operations.

He is leading our technical team in Warranty Surveys such as Towage Approval, Heavy Lift/Project Cargo operations, often undertaking projects for the energy sector. In this capacity, Juan Pablo has developed towage calculation tools and risk assessment techniques, to the highest recognized international standards.

Juan Pablo also possesses a vast knowledge of the LATAM shipyards and repair facilities in Brazil and the major South/Central America geographical region, combined with strong relationship with Brazilian Maritime Authorities at top level and the local maritime and energy sector community in general. In this context he has also carried out a number of JH143 Shipyard Risk Assessment Warranty surveys in the region, including a submarine building yard in Brazil.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• MSc in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering, Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Hugo is a Naval Architect and Marine Engineer, who graduated from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil in 2020.

Along with his studies, he worked for 1 year as research assistant at Subsea Technology Laboratory (LTS), part of the Research Program (COPPE) of UFRJ, where he investigated the fatigue of damaged flat panels on production platforms vessels, using computational modeling, finite elements simulation and prototypes.

From 2018 to 2019, he was selected, by examination, for the internship program at Petroleo Brasileiro S.A. (Petrobras), one of the largest oil and gas companies in the world. He integrated the development team of offshore platform vessels (FPSOs) basic structural designs, performing computational structural analysis.

In 2019, after the completion of his program at Petrobras, he initiated an internship at Ocyan S.A. and worked as a trainee engineer giving technical support to the department responsible for company’s SMS. He also gave assistance for Class and Statutory audits regarding the maintenance of pipe laying support vessels (PLSVs).

In 2020, right after his university graduation, Hugo was hired as a Maintenance Supervisor by OceanPact Serviços Marítimos, a Brazilian company that provides emergency response services for offshore, near-shore, and onshore with a fleet of Oil Spill Recovery Vessels (OSRVs). He was responsible to assist on all corrective maintenance needed in company’s fleet, ensuring compliance with Class and controlling every spare part required by the machinery department of each vessel.

Mikael is a Naval Architect / Marine Engineer who graduated from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. He has attained IT expertise and is the author of various scientific papers / publications on Shipbuilding and Offshore Constructions, including a research for applied AI to ships and subsea structures.

He has experience with a variety of H&M casualties of all types as well as condition surveys.

He is proficient in English, possessing working knowledge of German.

Lucas holds a BA in International Commerce/Trade and has worked in several administrative and accounting positions, one of them being in Australia. With a strong background in commerce and finance, he adds expertise to our accounting department, to streamline operations and implement improvements and new solutions.

Sandra is responsible for the routine administration and the accounts handling of the office.

She graduated from the Fundacao Getulio Vargas FGV University in 2012 with a degree in Business Administration. Prior joining our company, she was managing an International Business Consulting firm for 5 years. She is fluent in Portuguese, and knowledgeable in English and Spanish.

Juliana provides general administrative assistance to Rio surveyors as well as being responsible for all receivables from invoicing to fee collection supervision for all our offices in South America.

She holds a BA from UVA (Universidade Veiga de Almeida) and concurrently with her job works towards acquiring an MBA in Foreign Trade from IBMR University Center.
